There are several advantages that come with yoga. Yoga can be very effective in improving digestion and posture, maintaining better energy levels, maintaining a positive outlook and enjoying optimal health. Yoga practice has been prevalent even in ancient India and this practice has proven to be very effective on a physical and mental level.

Many people pursue yoga as a means to improve their overall health. Yoga is also very effective in making a person lose weight. Hatha yoga is basically a low impact and an intensive exercise. It involves lots of postures aimed at promoting blood flow of the body which in turn helps in better digestion. One important benefit that comes with yoga is that it improves digestion by encouraging better intestinal functioning. Yoga also helps you to reduce the amount of waste material in our body without the need for other complicated cleansing techniques.

Yoga helps you to lose weight by concentrating on yoga postures that help to improve the body’s metabolism. It helps you to reduce stress and burn calories simultaneously. It can only lead to burning of lesser calories than what can be achieved through sports such as swimming or jogging. However if you practice postures such as power yogic or ashtanga, you can shed weight more quickly. It is not enough if you just practice the yoga postures. Yoga has to be accompanied by physical exercise and a balanced diet. There are some yogic postures such as Iyengar which can improve your posture and build muscles but may not give you the advantages of a cardio vascular work out. To shed weight you can also combine running, walking or any other form of aerobic exercise to achieve your weight loss goals.

Flow yoga, otherwise known as vinyasa can be practiced for weight loss. This type of yoga involves a group of poses called sun salutations. Ashtanga Yoga is a popular form of yoga that can be pursued by those interested to lose weight. Ashtanga yoga may be difficult to practice but is most suitable for those willing to do yoga at home. Power Yoga provides a great cardiovascular workout and hence is immensely popular. Bikram hatha yoga is mostly preferred by sports persons such as athletes as you can lose a lot of weight if you do such exercises regularly.

Exercise wise though yoga is not the best option to lose weight, it can help you have a slimmer and well toned body. Through yoga you can keep away excess weight even after losing weight. You can keep your yoga routine steady and slow to begin with. You can see quick results only if you combine yoga practice with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet plan. You must also use the mental and spiritual angle of yoga so that you can easily lose weight. You must have the firm will that you will change your outlook to something more positive as such a mentality is crucial to meet with success in your weight loss efforts.

It's nice video. I like it. I want to say if you are just starting out with Yoga and plan to keep your routine slow and steady to start, the quickest way you are going to see weight loss results is to combine your yoga practice with a healthy diet plan and an aerobic exercise.
