Default Phentermine - Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
I know this is not prescribed for women who are pregnant. But what if a woman is taking this pill and does not know that she's already pregnant, right? You couldn't possibly know it right away specially when you're not expecting to be pregnant.

Default Is it lethal when you're take phentermine when you're pregnant?

We all know that obesity has become a big problem nowadays. It happens to pregnant women too and it can cause diabetes development in pregnant women. There are many researches done on phentermine’s effect on pregnant women. It is said that this drug doesn’t necessary lead to side effects if pregnant women carefully follow their prescription and take prescribed doses. However it can cause severe side effects that are better to be avoided.

If a woman takes large doses of phentermine, this drug can lead to an abnormal development of her unborn child. So it’s better to avoid phentermine during your pregnancy. If you take phentermine and plan to become pregnant talk to your doctor about changing your medication. If you become pregnant while taking phentermine, you are more likely to be safe at the start of your pregnancy. Still as soon as you find out about being pregnant stop taking phentermine and consult your doctor.

In case your doctor permits you to take phentermine during pregnancy stage, it’s better if you reduce the dosage. This will help you to avoid the symptoms of withdrawal. Keep in mind that phentermine taken during pregnancy can cause allergic reactions, throat choking, abnormal breathing, face swelling and other side effects. It can also cause abnormal or underweight babies born.

If you worry about your child, you can ask your doctor to examine you and check your baby’s development. Ultrasound examination can help you to check the physical behavior of your child in a womb and make sure that everything is all right.

Jeezaloo. If ever I'm suddenly become pregnant while taking phentermines, I would rather not take any at all during pregnancy. Even if you say that they're safe as long as you lessen the dosage, there's still the risk and I don't want to take any risk at all. I think doctors should say that.

Can I take Phentermine if I'm breast-feeding? I'm having difficulty in loosing weight after pregnancy and I was wondering if there's any restriction.

You should not take it if you're breastfeeding. Your baby will be taking Phentermine through your milk.

For me, I will advise my wife not to take it even if it's safe. I know there would still be a little side effect on the baby so I won't take the risk.

Thanks Doctor for the information I was wondering this myself as all the pamphlets with the medication say to ask your dr or pharmacist and by that time you are already pregnant and need to know right away.
They should have something that comes with the medication when you get it from the pharmacy that states on the bottle that if you are pregnant the steps that you need to take with the medication and to contact your doctor.

Default Phentermine - Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Phentermine suppresses appetite and is good for treating obesity. However it can possibly transfer into women’s milk because of its little molecular weight. Thus nursing mothers (who are breast feeding) must not use this drug. Phentermine may lead to tremors, anorexia and effect nursing baby’s nervous system in some other ways.

Actually no studies are done to clarify if phentermine passes through breast milk. It is not researched how it can effect on the infant. It’s better for you to consult your physician before you decide to lose extra weight with the help of this medication.

Keep in mind that phentermine’s chemical elements are similar to amphetamine. Amphetamine for sure passes the breast milk. Amphetamine is known to cause severe side effects on nursing babies. This is the main reason why I don’t recommend you to use phentermine while you are nursing.

You must remember that your newborn gets nutrition from you through breast feeding. Don’t think about losing weight right now. You need to increase consumption of nutritious meals and not suppress your appetite. Help your baby to grow and develop. You can start your diet program later on once your child won’t need your breast milk any more.

I understand that some women really need to lose extra pounds because their obesity might pose a serious threat to their health. Such cases are rare. In this situation a woman should immediately get medical help. If you are breast feeding and just want to lose extra weight because it’s your wish, better wait for several months and don’t combine breast feeding with phentermine. If you badly wish to become slim you must talk to your doctor. I am sure you can always come up with a safe solution to a weight loss problem.
