There were some variances noted. In the group of 23 patients, there were 4 people that had been using Phentermine, and maintaining a weight loss of 12% of their bodyweight. These patients were given the additional 5-HTP and Carbidopa 6 months after the study began. These 4 patients proceeded to gain weight. An average of 11 pounds was gained by these four patients.

Another patient in the study was given 5-HTP plus Carbidopa in addition to Phentermine, at the beginning of the study. This patient lost a stunning 24% of bodyweight. These results may not be typical, but they are amazing.

3 Important Conclusions from this study:

People that have been using Phentermine, alone, and successfully losing weight or maintaining weight loss, should not add the 5-HTP plus Carbidopa. This has been shown to cause a gain in weight.
The best results seem to take place in people who have either never taken Phentermine or that are given the combination of Phentermine and 5-HTP plus Carbidopa from the beginning.
If a person loses weight using Phentermine alone and then adds the 5-HTP plus Carbidopa and begins to gain weight, that person should stop using the 5-HTP plus Carbidopa.
