Phentermine suppresses appetite and is good for treating obesity. However it can possibly transfer into women’s milk because of its little molecular weight. Thus nursing mothers (who are breast feeding) must not use this drug. Phentermine may lead to tremors, anorexia and effect nursing baby’s nervous system in some other ways.
Actually no studies are done to clarify if phentermine passes through breast milk. It is not researched how it can effect on the infant. It’s better for you to consult your physician before you decide to lose extra weight with the help of this medication.
Keep in mind that phentermine’s chemical elements are similar to amphetamine. Amphetamine for sure passes the breast milk. Amphetamine is known to cause severe side effects on nursing babies. This is the main reason why I don’t recommend you to use phentermine while you are nursing.
You must remember that your newborn gets nutrition from you through breast feeding. Don’t think about losing weight right now. You need to increase consumption of nutritious meals and not suppress your appetite. Help your baby to grow and develop. You can start your diet program later on once your child won’t need your breast milk any more.
I understand that some women really need to lose extra pounds because their obesity might pose a serious threat to their health. Such cases are rare. In this situation a woman should immediately get medical help. If you are breast feeding and just want to lose extra weight because it’s your wish, better wait for several months and don’t combine breast feeding with phentermine. If you badly wish to become slim you must talk to your doctor. I am sure you can always come up with a safe solution to a weight loss problem.
